Anyone know a good way (besides weeding) to get rid of weeds from landscape beds that have rocks?

There is a weed barrier and rocks on top. The weeds either grow from underneath the weed barrier or over it. They can’t be dug up because of the weed barrier and they can’t be pulled. I’ve tried and I’ve hired help, who has also failed. Any ideas to kill this stuff off? I’ve tried spray, these weeds laugh in the face of these sprays!

if there is dirt over the weed barrier then you may be able to use a weed burner, they are just a nozzle you hook up to a propane bottle turn it on and light it up it throws quite a flame so you must be careful not to burn plants you want to keep. Sprays will kill weeds and your flowers too.
You’ve sprayed them and they are still going strong? That’s a hard one for me to swallow! What did you spray on them? Whatever it was, doesn’t sound like a legitimate herbicide to me. “Roundup” will kill 99% of the grasses and broadleaf weeds that grow in a landscape. Try re-evaluating your spraying practices and follow the label. I guarantee that it will work, but only if you want it too.
Added Info: Once again for the “mis-informed” individuals….
Roundup will “not” move through the soil to kill non target plants (unless you spray them directly) and will not leach into the water table. Roundup “binds” to soil particles and stays put until broken down into a non threatening form. Furthermore, ANY selective or non-selective herbicide you spray is “not” going to kill weeds that popup at a later time unless you are using a “pre-emergent” (Roundup and the like are “Post” emergent herbicides) Not all weeds germinate at the same time so, they will need to be treated when they emerge above the soil line if you want to keep them in check! Need to do a little studying before making such assuming statements. Roundup will only kill a plant if you spray the green foliage, nothing more!

you have proven one point….weed barriers don’t work over any period of time….you want a weed barrier…use about 3 sheets of newspaper….
I have a similar problem of weeds growing though my landscape fabric and mulch. I agree that landscape fabric is a waste of time and using newspaper did work better. In years past when I’ve used products like RoundUp they worked just fine although it was a temporary solution because the weeds would return. A few years back I started moving away from chemical solutions for fear of them contaminating our water and food supply and so boiled water and poured that on grass growing between crevices in my sidewalk and that killed it.
From what I’ve been reading lately to try to resolve this problem I’ve decided to put in some ground cover and plants that make a lot of shade. Here’s my list so far: moss phlox, dwarf goldenrod and creeping wild thyme, catmint, pachysandra and ornamental goldenrod. Dense clumps of broadleaf plants such as hostas, lady’s mantle and ferns also can prevent weed seeds from germinating. Good luck.
