I just installed an above ground oval pool and will finish it off with a nice deck?

I know I’ve probably turned off a lot of buyers (for future sale) but also may have attracted some. Anyone have any experience with this? I know when I was first looking at homes, if I found one I liked with a pool that would have been a plus. I have 2 kids and have always dreamt of having my own pool; especially after having lived in apartments for 8 years. I’m just wondering if an above ground pool is a nice attraction if done well with nice landscaping.

I would say yes, it does attract buyers. Actually, it may be a wiser decision than adding an in-ground pool because, as expensive as in-grounds are, they barely add any value to the resale of your home. I think that if it does have a nice deck with attractive landscaping, and it’s attached to the house, it will be quite a strong selling point. I also think it would depend on where you live. If you reside in a warmer area like Florida or California, it’s probably a big plus, but if you’re in Wisconsin or Iowa or someplace where it snows a lot it may not be quite so appealing.
Yes they can be made to look really nice, I’ve had three pools in 15 years, they didn’t wear out I just liked different style now I have a 24 foot oval and it is nice, check the chemicals daily do any maintenance needed as soon as you see it needs it or you will make it harder to maintenance later, If you don’t want the pain of taking it down in the winter it is worth the cost to buy a all water liner then you only have to drain it down put you closing chemicals in it and cover it for the winter and it is much easier to get it up and running the next spring.
Splish Splash and Enjoy.
My brother’s family has one. To ensure safety FROM others than his home, he:
steps to pool with a locked gate, deck around the pool with fence on outside of deck.
They have a yard fence but it is short so the additional is for security from neighbors having access when they are not home & accidents could occur. On their property = their responsibility.
They love it.
